Heartache Healed!

More than once, I have heard a faithful follower of Jesus lament from the bottom of their heart that in spite of their great efforts to teach their children about God and faith and church, these younger family members just do not appear to value their faith as much as their parents hoped and prayed for. As a result, these parents live with silent but profound heartache.

By talking about his own sorrow and anguish, Apostle Paul highlights the good news that God’s love is persistent and boundless. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us and our loved ones from God’s love. Not now! Not ever! No need for heartache.

May we refocus all that time and energy spent on worrying towards living with joy in our hearts and words of kindness and forgiveness on our lips. That is the simple, but much more effective witness of God’s active presence in our lives.

Loving God, thank you for calming our troubled hearts, wiping away our worries, and offering faith and hope to sustain us. We trust ourselves and all whom we love into your care. Please help us to continue to tell about your love through our lives lived as followers of Jesus. Amen. — ES
