Saturday July 15th, 2017 Romans 8:1-11
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. (verse 2)
Our family has come to know a man who works with Teen Challenge, a faith-based recovery program. Because he himself has been pulled back from the brink, this man, like others in the organization, has first-hand experience of the depths to which we can sink and that then can control our lives. He knows what it means to be set free and to be set free in Christ. He now works with others on their journey to wholeness.
In our baptism, we become sons and daughters of God. We, too, have been pulled back from the brink of eternal death. How is that relationship lived out in your daily life? Verses 5-6 of this chapter say, “?those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”
How is my freedom in Christ reflected in my life?
Father God, help me to set my mind on the Spirit and to live joyously out of the freedom I have in you. May my life be a blessing to others. Amen. — REJ
