Jesus affirms and validates our presence in the lives of others. He tells us, in fact, that we bring his very presence to those we encounter. This is both a great honour and a great responsibility.
It’s easy to avoid connecting with those who may need our care and support. We don’t want to bother them. We are afraid we won’t be well received. We feel we have nothing to bring to them. Jesus frees us to do ministry for others, even if it is just to show up. He says, go, for it is me whom you are bringing.
Lord Jesus, you have given us the privilege of bringing your presence into the lives of our neighbours. Give us the compassion and the courage we need to show up, so that we can be agents of your love for the world. Amen. — DLK
