What Do You Do With A Roaring Lion Trying To Devour You?

The season of Easter continues to roll on. Are you bored yet?

The excitement of Holy Week and the Easter morning event are now six Sundays old. The cries of “Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen Indeed!” are familiar in our ears; and the weeks roll on. The hope of a new creation and resurrection is thoroughly preached and sung. Alleluia! But now the balance of this holy season and the challenges of life grow in tension.

So how is your already/not yet? How is your “New Creation-ness” doing? How much do you feel and experience this reality? How much do you fear the roaring lion that is looking to devour?

Perhaps a good way to spend this Saturday is to prepare with discipline and reflection for another Sunday of Easter proclamation.

God of resurrection, be with me in this celebration of Easter. In the face of challenges, help me to see where I am focussing on the fear and pain, and give me hope and eyes of faith to see where you will restore, support, strengthen and establish me. To you be the power forever and ever. Amen. — SB
