Blind

This was indeed a dilemma! The man born blind can now see. The man told his story several times, but no one believed him.

Have you ever had this experience? I had a similar experience. I used to sew my clothes and all my children’s clothes. We were invited to a wedding and I made myself a new dress. It turned out well. When I showed it to my mother, she would not believe I had made it. She even went so far as to say that I couldn’t sew that well. My husband told her he had seen me do it, but that did not convince her, so we let her believe what suited her.

The man in this story kept trying, but the people would not believe him. Finally Jesus put in some last words. Still the people did not believe. Then the man explained how Jesus healed him. This did not please the Pharisees because Jesus had done it on the Sabbath.

Jesus suggests it is the Pharisees who are blind because they do not believe what is before them, and he implies that they are the losers.

Lord, help us to see what is before us. Help us to be thankful for our gifts that we have received from God. Amen. — GS
