In 1997, the Nobel Peace Prize was given to two women who were deeply distraught by the senseless violence which resulted in the death of three innocent children. The witness to the tragedy, a Protestant, and the aunt of the children, a Catholic, started a protest movement, the first timid steps of peace in Northern Ireland after decades of violence.
