Wednesday January 4th, 2017 Isaiah 42:1-9
Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights. (verse 1)
In her final year of high school, my daughter submitted an essay about her educational and career plans to a local women’s group. Her article won a small money award. She was delighted to have been chosen for her thoughts, and there was a positive change in her attitude towards herself. Her self-confidence increased, and she looked forward to submitting her university applications.
God has chosen us to be God’s children. There are no essays involved. We are loved for who we are, regardless of our successes and failures. We, too, should be delighted.
God’s love allows me to dream bigger and reach higher as I plan for the coming year. I hope to increase my physical activity levels and grow in my Christian faith. My walking pass is up-to-date, my Bible study materials are ready, and I have stamps for my ‘Thinking of You’ cards. I may not be as successful as I would like, but I am confident that God’s love for me will not diminish if I miss the mark.
Watch out! Here I come!
Loving God, thank you for loving us unconditionally. Help us to share that love with all those we meet this year. Amen. — BLF
