Monday January 2nd, 2017 Luke 2:15-21
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. (verse 20)
Have you ever wondered how the shepherds who were left behind felt when the returning shepherds shared the details of their visit with the Christ child? I have always hoped that they were open and able to share in the excitement of that good news.
It’s wonderful to hear stories of God’s presence in our lives. Recently, a senior in our church was upset at the loss of her companion-a cat. She knew that a kitten was not the best choice at this time in her life but she wanted and needed company. We both prayed for guidance and later that week she called to tell me that our prayers had been answered. Someone had heard of her loss and wondered if she could open her home (and heart) to an older cat that had just lost his master. The cat was a perfect match for her and to this day she tells everyone, “God sent Beamer to me!”
Jesus has promised us a life of abundance so let’s watch for all the good things that happen around us and share the stories of God’s presence in our lives with others.
Loving and giving God, open our eyes to the wonder of your presence in our lives. Amen. — BLF
