A Cure for All

My brother-in-law spent several years on dialysis when his kidneys failed. We came close to losing him several times as he developed other complications during his treatments. Last summer, our prayers were answered and he received a kidney transplant. We hope to enjoy his company for many years to come.

We know that not everyone we pray for gets healed. We know that we will not go through life without facing some kind of difficulty. People struggle with diseases and hardships every day. In this reading, everyone who came to this early church was cured. Perhaps this is to give us a taste of the future, a preview of a time when there will be no death or hardship or disease. In the meantime, we can gather together and help and support each other, praying that we will have the strength to stand up for our faith, to trust that God will be with us through the joys and sorrows, and we can look forward to the life that is to come.

Healing God, give us the strength to get through the day and help us to always walk in your way. Amen. — BZ
