Go!

Our confirmation class uses short videos to illustrate stories from the Bible. They are humorous and very much enjoyed by the teachers and students. My granddaughter’s favourite video shows a demon-possessed child hopping around the screen. The disciples try to send the demon out of the child but they are unsuccessful. Jesus comes and raises his hand and the demon leaves. The video then explains that the disciples did not have enough faith to perform this miracle.

In our story today, it takes just one word from Christ for the demons to leave: Go! The lives of the men who had been possessed were changed forever. The demons recognized the Son of God and knew that he had the power to destroy them. The village people, however, were afraid and rejected Jesus.

We know that Christ came to rescue us from darkness and with just one touch can make a huge difference in our lives. Once we are touched, we will want to serve others and spread the good news. We need to go into our world and do just that.

Saving Lord, I am ready to do so much. All I need is one loving touch! Amen. — BZ
