Wednesday November 23rd, 2016 Revelation 21:5-27
And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new? It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life." (verses 5-6)
Maybe like me, you’ve almost given up on watching the news or picking up a newspaper. There is so much bad news out there! And some days it seems like darkness is winning the day. That’s when it’s good to be reminded there will be an end to all that is dark. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega. As God raised him from the dead, death was left behind like the empty grave clothes; evil was conquered.
Yes, we live in the in-between time as we wait for all things to be made new. But we do get glimpses when the kingdom of heaven breaks through: whenever we show love and care for one another, like Jesus did. Through God’s Spirit, new life is possible; forgiveness and reconciliation can happen. Plus, we can work on bringing new life to God’s creation.
Dear God, we yearn for the new life that you have promised. May we be instruments of your love and healing. We ask that the Holy Spirit use us to bring new life where it's needed. In Jesus' name. Amen. — AK
