Elijah is a faithful servant, and God has provided for him in difficult times. God uses unconventional means to do so, ravens and widows. Widows of that time usually have a tough time as it is and this one is no different, but God chose to bless this widow, we don’t know why. We’ll never know why, but the why doesn’t matter.

God has blessed many of us with abundance, even those who have “little” based on our western standards, but who actually have abundantly more than most others in the world. We don’t know why we’re so fortunate, but we are. So what are we to do? What did the widow do?

The answer: Share.

How? Well, that’s up to God in Christ Jesus and your ability to hear him calling to you for something to eat or something to drink. Remember the sheep and the goats? Jesus is there, wherever there’s a need. It’s our decision to respond or not.

Lord Jesus, thank you for all the blessings in our lives. Help us to hear you calling us to serve with whatever little we have so that we can be a blessing to others. Amen. — RK
