For several years, a community organization in our area has been working to re-establish rural public transportation in Alberta. Many communities have no school, no post office, no health clinic, some have no fuel pumps, no access to groceries and of course, no bus or taxi service.
It has been a painfully difficult process. Blockages of many kinds, including lack of funding, changes in government and personnel all served to slow the process. After years of effort some almost quit in frustration. Then a breakthrough brought new hope. The organization has now received some funding; all that is needed is transportation.
God’s timeline is often different from ours. Don’t give up. The widow in the parable continued to appeal to the judge who cared not for her or anyone else. Yet because he was tired of the widow’s appeals, he relented and provided the help she required.
While the judge did not care for the widow, God did. And God cares for us. God loves us. Never give up on God.
Loving God, please be with us in the trials of life. When we are ready to quit because the going is too difficult, please give us the courage to carry on. Thank you for hearing our cries. Amen. — REJ
