Thursday October 6th, 2016 Deuteronomy 26:1-11
Then you, together with the Levites and the aliens who reside among you, shall celebrate with all the bounty that the LORD your God has given to you and to your house. (verse 11)
This weekend Canadians will celebrate Thanksgiving. We will share the abundance of our land, prepare beloved family recipes, and cherish the memories that we create.
This year Canada has welcomed thousands of refugees. This will be their first Canadian Thanksgiving. If you know a refugee family, invite them to celebrate God’s bountiful goodness with you. Invite them to bring their own treasured family dish of food; it just might become part of your future thanksgiving traditions.
Don’t know a refugee family? Invite a senior, a single person, or someone new to your congregation or community who may be alone. You never know how much you may be a blessing or how you may be blessed.
Thanksgiving is also a time when we can remember and recount what God has done for us this past year. Let’s boldly share our journey. Tell your story at your Thanksgiving table. Invite everyone to do the same.
