Monday October 3rd, 2016 Jeremiah 29:1,4-7
Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile? (verse 4)
Most of us have faced an unfathomable calamity or tragedy that for a time has clouded our every waking moment. It’s like meandering through intense forest fire, smoke-filled air. What do we need to do to be safe? Which way do we go? There’s much stumbling and anxiety. There’s much waiting, not always patiently, for the fire to be extinguished or for the wind to shift. Sometimes we are evacuated. We are forced to adjust and move on. Oh, the thankfulness when all returns to normal.
The Israelites were exiled from their homeland, again! How was their life to go on? Jeremiah instructs them to move ahead with their lives, adjust and keep moving.
Think of the thousands of today’s refugees fleeing their homes and the thankfulness they must feel as they re-establish their lives in a peaceful land. They must move on.
During times of tribulations we hold onto our lifeline, the Lord Almighty!
Lord Almighty, during our times of tribulation help us to hang onto our lifeline-you. Amen. — AAH
