My husband will agree I am not fun to be around at Christmastime. I find the season of Advent to be very stressful. Christmas is an overwhelming exercise in surviving the great expectations of a commercialized society.
My brother came to my rescue a few years ago when he agreed that we no longer had to buy presents for each other or our families. It’s not because we don’t care, we just both agree that presents are not required.
I find it very hard to buy presents on demand. I am very generous throughout the year and enjoy giving spontaneous gifts when I see something I know someone will like.
God desires everyone to find salvation. Through Jesus we are able to come to God fully and completely. Jesus walked among us as a human being. He understands what it is like to suffer pain and loss. He understands the temptations there are in life. When we lose sight of Jesus by flashy advertisements and commercialism, we are drawn away from Jesus. Only through Jesus do we find God.
Almighty God, through Christ Jesus we find eternal salvation and are drawn closer to you. May we have the desire to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth. Amen. — JR
