Friday September 2nd, 2016 Psalm 139:1-6,13-18
?you have?known me? (verse 1)
We marvel at the possibility of x-rays, ultrasounds and MRIs. There are so many devices today that help doctors and nurses find out what is wrong or right with our bodies. It is amazing what can be discovered with a blood test. As long as we are healthy we do not need these, but when something goes wrong, it is wise and imperative that we go to the doctor, who then uses these systems on us and determines the diagnosis.
We look at ourselves in a mirror and are proud of what we see or we find out that there is some hair out of place or a zit is ruining our lovely skin. God, however, knows us better than any mirror or machine. God knows our minds and hearts, and knows the inmost thoughts we do not share with anyone. God is all wise when it comes to the hidden sins that infect our souls. This is why Jesus came to the world to save us for eternity and from ourselves.
We are so thankful that this has happened, and although we need machines and investigations for our health, we know that in the love and grace of God we, by faith, are healthy in God’s sight.
Help us, O God, to see ourselves through your eyes of forgiveness and love. Amen. — VH
