What is Your Dream?

Do you dream about a perfect world, of right triumphing over wrong, of peace, of food and shelter for everyone? The writer of Revelation shares this. The enemies of God are kicked out. Praise and worship rise unopposed. Blessings of God flow out continually. Pain of the past becomes a distant memory for all marked with the cross of Christ.

It is a beautiful dream. Unfortunately, it is not our reality. Temples, secular and spiritual, compete for our allegiance. News of conflicts continues, including within Christianity. The light and blessings of God seem crowded out by other voices and powers. We can worry that this vision will never become real.

Yet there, in the corner of the dream, do you see something? Do you see an empty cross? Do you see the stone of the tomb rolled away? Do you hear the risen Lord sharing peace with the disciples? This dream is OURS. This dream is OUR hope. We wait and live by faith in the one who continues to make all things new.

Risen Lord, come to us in our broken world and invite us to be part of the vision you have for creation. Amen. — MHD
