Ascension

So, why do we stand looking into heaven? Did we not pay attention to what Jesus said? He said, “Go!” It is not for us to ask when. We have been commanded to be his witnesses to the world, not calculators for his return.

It is far easier to be speculators than witnesses. Speculators write books, hold seminars, make huge profits, predicting Jesus’ return. But witnesses just witness to the truth of the gospel: the truth of justice for the whole world, the love of enemies, and the care for the marginalized and outcast. The world needs far fewer speculators and far more witnesses.

Jesus, you entrusted the ministry of God's love to us. Make our hearts ready for the task ahead with prayer and praise. Amen. — LD
