When Jesus entered Jerusalem at the end of his journey, he was greeted with singing, joyful folks who had covered the dirt road with their robes and leafy branches. His arrival was anticipated and celebrated. Hosanna indeed!
When we gather at an airport to wait for the arrival of one of our hockey heroes after a significant game, we carry signs of support and greetings. If we are lucky enough to own one, we proudly wear an appropriate hockey jersey! We are exuberant and proud! We want everyone to know that our team has done well!
During this Holy Week, we might be able to greet folks at church, who have not been able to join worship for awhile. What a wonderful, jubilant occasion! Let us make them feel as anticipated and accepted as they are! Let us go out of our way to make them feel welcomed! Hosanna!
God of hosannas, help us to make the threshold to worship low and easy to pass. Amen. — EB
