Is God Using You?

Of all the people that God could have chosen from among those who believed and followed him, why did he pick a pagan king to fulfil prophesy that Isaiah had predicted more than one hundred years earlier?

Look throughout history, God has used people who have not professed to be Christian or believers. People of wealth, power, education or special positions have all been used for their ability to achieve God’s purpose. God does not excuse their non-belief, but they are used as helpers to achieve what God wants accomplished.

It may be through being part of and performing these special beneficial acts that people are persuaded to believe in a God who will accept and use all people. Are we and our communities of faith willing to accept help from those who are not like us in looks, actions or beliefs, to do the work of God?

Lord, help us to engage in ways to imitate the example you have shown us, to be more accepting of others so that they may come to know you and your saving grace through your son, Jesus Christ. Amen. — JM
