Can the Imitation Continue?

We continue our Lenten journey hearing of Jesus carrying on his ministry here on earth. He declares that his work of “casting out demons and performing cures” will continue today and tomorrow, and that is naturally followed by the third day when his work will be finished and he will die. It is not the Romans or Herod who is controlling this; this is the prophecy being fulfilled and the establishment of the kingdom of God.

The past two days we have reflected on imitating Jesus and his ministry. Do our actions and lives reflect the establishment of God’s kingdom in our communities? Are there threats that impede our actions?

The imitation is getting more difficult. Reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ life and death, and what we are doing to continue the mission of Jesus in our community.

Lord, help us to engage in ways to imitate the example of Jesus through humble and self-sacrificial living for the sake of others. Amen. — JM
