David cries out to God for help and protection, but he also remembers that God does not need or expect any heroic acts from him. He also thanks God for all that was already done on his behalf. The psalm presents a mixture of supplication and praise.
For years I was part of a women’s Bible study group. We crossed several denominations, but we were united in our desire to know God better and understand scripture.
We met in the leader’s home and sometimes in other members’ homes. We studied various books of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, along with the aspects of prayer. Something I learned always stands out for me, that we should always be thankful, even in the middle of trying circumstances. I’ve always found that the hardest.
Attending this group helped me strengthen my Christian walk. It was a warm and caring circle where we prayed for each other and through it became friends. Though life circumstances prevented me from continuing, I still keep in touch with a few of them and remember the one who first invited me there.
Lord, we ask you to keep us safe as we come and go in our daily lives. Help us to be thankful in all circumstances. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. — CRW
