Gathered in Christ

As we come to the end of another calendar year it is a good time to stop and take stock of where we are going. What kinds of things have gathered in our lives? What is their influence on the direction and nature of our lives? Such reflection aids us in figuring out what we need to remove or pursue.

On a larger screen in the cosmos as we are going through time, all things and peoples are being gathered into Christ. We live in such a variety of circumstances and conditions and we may not understand what is happening with others. This text assures us that God is at work and all those differences are being drawn together into Christ. God is aware of all that is. And we will not be lost from God’s perspective. Jesus has the power to receive us all and to hold us all. In him there is a larger platform for our lives and that of the world as we move forward into the fullness of time even as we begin a new year.

Gather us, Christ, into your care, and help us to trust in the strength of your capacity to hold us now and always. Amen. — JW-H
