Friday November 27th, 2015 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13
Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and restore whatever is lacking in your faith. (verse 10)
Life moves at a much faster pace today than it did yesterday. I am sure people from every generation could say the same thing.
We have our families to take care of, and our work lives and our volunteer lives and our hobbies and interests. It all takes time and energy. Yet the days still have only 24 hours and we are only one person.
We need to replenish ourselves before we can give any more. A vehicle cannot keep running unless we give it more gas and maintain it. Neither can we, neither can our congregations.
Churches now are involved in so many things. We are working in the community in food banks and soup kitchens, and lobbying for justice for various groups. We are working towards peace and ecumenism.
However, just as we are fed by bread and wine and the Word, we need to feed each other. We need to get together to study the Bible, to enjoy social time, relax with each other and enjoy each other’s company. God’s family needs to take time to be family.
Loving God, help us to take time to refresh ourselves and replenish our skills to that we can grow in faith and share your love with others. Amen. — MAC
