Thursday November 26th, 2015 Psalm 25:1-10
Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. (verse 4)
David’s prayer for guidance is often read and prayed in hard times. Today, I am thinking of times past and of children leading other children into the wonders of life.
When my children were small, we spent the summers at our camp at Gros Cap. In the bush behind the camp there was a treehouse that was a favourite spot for the children in the neighbourhood to play.
The big kids, with experience, welcomed the little kids who were ready to participate. They showed them how to find their way safely to the treehouse. They showed them where the tools were to enlarge and improve the fort, and they showed them how to use them.
Each had a job to do. Each worked with an experienced member of the group. Mistakes were forgiven. Tomorrow was a fresh start.
The church is also required to do this. We need to teach little children about God’s love and God’s work. We need to be forgiving of all people who come to this special place. Share with each other the love and knowledge of God as together we journey on the path of God.
Loving God, help me to be a patient teacher and friend to those who seek your kingdom. Amen. — MAC
