Home

I remember going away to university for the first time. It was the first time I was going to be on my own, and I couldn’t wait. Then the day came when my parents packed my belongings into the car and drove me to school. I don’t know if they noticed, but I quietly shed a few tears in the back seat of the car on that Labour Day Monday in 1988.

I lived in many different places over the years, but knew none of them were home. A home is much more than bricks and mortar. Home is where there is love, comfort and safety. Home nurtures and nourishes the bodies and minds of those who live there. Home is where you love coming back to after a vacation, and it’s where you want and need to be for life.

I can relate to David not resting until a suitable home was found for the Lord. Much like David in finding a home for the Lord to dwell, we will not rest until we have found the right place for ourselves and our families.

God of love, guide us in finding a home where we can be nurtured in mind, body, and spirit. Amen. — GB
