A Dream Come True

You have likely heard, or even declared the familiar phrase, “A dream come true.” We employ it often when life circumstances fulfill or exceed our expectations.

Maybe you met and married that special person of your dreams. Perhaps you were offered that dream job, or you studied at that dream school, or you had the opportunity to go on that dream vacation. Or maybe you recovered from a life-threatening illness.

Psalm 126 is one among a collection of psalms titled “A Song of Ascents.” In verse one, the author most likely remembers the time when God had acted to deliver God’s chosen people from Babylonian captivity, enabling them to rebuild Jerusalem. Their dreams of freedom and return to the promised land had come true, and they were filled with joy and gratitude.

How many of your dreams have come true? In response, have you been filled with joy and gratitude for the great things God has done for you?

Today we praise and thank you, God, as we remember the great things you have done for us. Amen. — GW-H
