We Are Family

Blood relatives. That term implies an intrinsically distinct relationship. Though it doesn’t always carry positive connotations, nothing can compare to the bond we have with our blood relatives. We are family.

Jesus’ blood was shed so that we who were “far off”-not related in any way-could be “brought near,” losing our alien status and becoming citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. What a fantastic thought! We are no longer simply human beings wandering aimlessly in this life. We have the privilege of being called members of the household of God. We belong!

We all yearn for a sense of belonging. We yearn for an awareness of our preciousness, to be validated and affirmed.

Friends, rather family, God has called us home through the Son, Jesus. We are all welcome. We are blood relatives.

We are family.

Thank you, Father, for making us your children and welcoming us into your household. Help us embrace the other members of our "family" with the love you would have us share. Amen. KG — KG
