Gloria Dei, Winnipeg, where I currently serve, had over 300 people combined at the two Christmas Eve Services. The fuller service was the early service aimed at families. Seeing the place full of young people in contrast to our normal attendance patterns was a hopeful experience. It is hopeful to know that this is our time to help the Holy One sow the seeds of faith in our midst and explore what is possible in the outcome. These 300 plus people continued the refrain “Are we there yet?” Now it is our turn to help show how much God has to offer those of us still on the journey.
Loving God, we pray for signs of your presence in the midst of our communities. Help us find the one spirit that unites us in your creation of earth, skies and beyond. Amen. — RDL
