God’s Spirit of Wisdom

This is such a beautiful image of who we are as human beings and what we are aspiring to. We are the house in which God lives.

If I am like a building, and the most precious being ever lives within me, I better keep myself in good repair! And as I am a living house, I do not do this with brick and mortar, but with food and drink. Fresh, natural and healthy nourishment will keep God’s dwelling place up and running.

There is another aspect to this: if God’s Spirit is within me, I should not keep her hidden away, unattached and independent of who I am. I should let God’s Spirit permeate all that I am, and I should let her lead me in my decision making and my action.

As a human being, my own will is deceptive. I follow my impulses, even if they lead me down the wrong path. I follow my own wisdom, not knowing that she is determined by the foolishness of my times.

God’s Spirit, however, gives me true wisdom. It is said in Proverbs 3:18: She [wisdom] is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called happy.

Holy Spirit, may you dwell in me forever. Amen. — KLB
