Tuesday June 23rd, 2015 Malachi 3:1-4
For he is like a refiner's fire and fuller's soap; he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the LORD in righteousness. (verses 2-3)
It seems that God is not happy with the religious practices of the people. The priests haven’t been offering the proper sacrifices, and the people have turned to false gods. It seems as if there is no hope for the people. And so what does God do?
God acts! God promises a messenger to do what the people can’t do on their own. God steps in and ensures that the people are made pure. God doesn’t give up. God doesn’t toss away God’s people. God does for us, what we can’t do ourselves. God makes us whole and pure and assures us that we are more than satisfactory in God’s sight.
And that gives us hope to live as God’s children.
Eternal God, left to our own salvation we would be doomed, but you won't hear of it. You step in and renew us. We will always be the precious treasure you created us to be. Amen. — SWH
