Justice will be done!

The book of Revelation has fascinated Christians since it was first written. Can you imagine how bad life must have been for the people that such terrifying visions were received as good news? Their suffering is made worse by a sense that God should be taking care of them. So they find comfort in a vision that something hidden is going on, that God is working in the background and one day justice will be done.

But can you feel the tension here? Those who suffer demand justice, but sometimes we are the ones causing the suffering. For example, whenever we buy a dollar store item we are part of a system that leaves many in the world suffering in repetitive, unsafe and underpaid factories while we reap the benefits of their labour. Do you suppose anyone reads the book of Revelation and thinks of us in North America?

Thanks be to God for offering a way to break this cycle. In grace you are set free, free to find ways to unbind the system of injustice. Are you in?
