Friday March 20th, 2015 Psalm 51:1-12
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. (verse 10)
In Genesis we read how in the beginning God created the world. Did it stop there? Do we remember that God continues to create each and every day? Each new flower that blooms, each new baby born? perhaps you can name a few more ways in which God creates each day. All of which is from our God who continues to create. This same God continues to give us new hearts, hearts that can be willing to forgive, to share and to love.
Lent offers a time when we can change the way we do things, not necessarily to give up something, but take something on. Lent is a wonderful time for us to acknowledge and appreciate God’s creative power and to ask God to renew us.
Creator God, continue to create in us a new spirit. Amen. — TT
