Saturday February 14th, 2015 2 Corinthians 4:3-6
For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord? (verse 5)
One of the first things I like to do when I get up in the morning is open up the curtains. If it’s nice outside I like to open up the window, too. As my mom likes to say, shake the stink off! There is something about throwing wide the curtains and letting light shine in our space that simply changes us.
Our passage today challenges us to be that same refreshing light in our world. Today, this passage points me to look at how we can speak of Christ and not ourselves. A friend of mine says her actions and words seek to live out the attitude of saying, “Look over here! Look over here!” And then when people look she ducks down and points to the cross.
I think that is what the passage is talking about today: How do we shine God’s light in our world and not focus on things like fortune and fame. We have all been gifted with unique talents that help us shine God’s light.
This week look for moments you can throw open the curtains and shake the stink off in your corner of the world and shine Christ’s light.
God, thank you for the privilege of shining your light in this world. Help me proclaim you fully in my world. Amen. — AA
