Reflections

I am a morning person; I am not a night owl. My energy, my focus and my creativity are fine tuned in the daytime. I can conquer the world from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. And then I shut down. Whatever I need to accomplish or complete needs to happen during the day.

When evening time comes, I usually collapse on the couch with a cup of coffee and review my day and all that I did. Most times I have accomplished what I set out to do that day and that is good. And some days I have not and so they get added onto my mental list of “things to do tomorrow.”

I can take my day and fill it with “things to do” but I need also to take my day and fill it with “things that God wants and needs me to do,” and the one most important thing that I believe God needs from me is to reflect God’s light. My speaking, my actions or my way of being with others reveals God’s light. Remember, God created not only the earth; God created us, too-in God’s own image.

God of light, let us reflect your light for this world, let our deeds and our character bring others to you. Amen. — MJ
