God, gift and grace are not concepts easily or graciously accepted these days. I don’t know where or how people think flowers and babies come to be, but for me, there must be an amazingly creative genius in charge – God. For God to come here to live as one of us, to show us how to live in relationship and in thanksgiving for all of creation, is incredible. Maybe that’s why it’s so hard for people to accept! Maybe it’s easier not to know than to accept something so very hard to believe.
So that’s where you and I come in. As children of God, it is our task and our delight to share our faith, our joy, our comfort, our trust in the Lord. We look forward to sharing a favourite recipe book or movie with a friend, we can look equally forward to sharing our God experiences – when we were truly comforted by God’s loving presence, when we heard God’s voice and discovered something wonderful. Try it. Again.
Gracious and abundantly generous God, you have blessed us to be a blessing. Give us the courage to share with friends and strangers our stories of your work in our lives so that they, too, may come to know you and receive grace upon grace. Amen. — SB
