Saturday December 20th, 2014 Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26
?I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. (verse 1b)
When I was little, my dad used to tell me stories. They weren’t out of a book and they weren’t someone else’s. They were his. I don’t remember them all, although I do remember the red-headed Carrot Top, and I remember the tree that never ended. What I remember most is listening to him, all my attention focused on the world he created, just out of reach of my own, accessible only through storytime.
He told me another story, too, one that I remember vividly and one that was passed on to him, and that I will be telling my children. This story has been passed down for hundreds of generations because it is so amazing that those who hear it can’t help but proclaim it. God’s story, God’s promises and love and faithfulness, is such an awesome legacy that it seems impossible not to share it. And that’s just what we should do.
Thank you, God, for being the greatest story ever told. Remind us to share it with all who will listen. Amen. — CB
