Ready or Not

“One, two, three, ready or not, here I come,” is a phrase we have all heard and used. It is a warning that we need to get set in our hiding place and stay still and quiet and hope not to be found. We wait with anticipation as our seeker gets close.

Peter tells us that Christ will not give us a warning when he comes for us. There will be no countdown. We will not know when or where. He will just show up and we need to be in place and ready, doing his will for us, leading lives that are holy and godly. If we are ready and waiting, then we will be home free! We have the promise of a new heaven and a new earth.

Gracious Father, let me be always ready for you, and doing the things that you want me to do. Amen. — BZ
