Wednesday December 3rd, 2014 Ezekiel 3:16-21
Mortal, I have made you a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. (verse 17)
My dad loved to watch the old black and white westerns on TV. Whenever the characters would stop to camp for the night, they would take turns staying awake and watching for approaching danger. If something happened, that person would warn the others so they could defend themselves.
We are being asked to be that person. We are to stay awake, be watchful and warn others around us when they are in spiritual danger. If we accept that responsibility and issue that warning, and they listen and defend themselves, then we will be saved with them. If we fall asleep and don’t issue the warning, then we will suffer the same fate as they. We need to be watchful and stay awake!
Watchful God, please keep me awake and aware, so I can warn others of lurking danger there. Amen. — BZ
