Restoration

We have a little dog at home who is getting older. She has a tough time with the stairs and it was painful to watch her attempts to go up and down. So I went to the Re-store. I walked through the aisles filled with salvaged sinks and cupboards, baseboards and knobs, light fixtures and closet doors. Maybe something could be found to serve a new purpose. I was not disappointed. An eight-foot plank that at one time had been a bookshelf and a long carpet runner were exactly what I needed.

I made a few adjustments and within an hour my dog was happily using a new ramp and once again had the run of the house. Cast-off articles were restored from previous uses to an altogether new purpose.

That is one way to think of the cry for hope from the psalmist’s heart. Maybe the cry to be restored also comes from your heart. Jesus was always restoring people from the old to be new creations. He can restore you, too. It might be in a way you never expected!

Lord of new beginnings, make me a new creation. Amen. — TKR
