God’s Children

She was a skillful weaver of fine textiles rich with a harmony of colours, shapes and materials. A poet, who masterfully condensed mighty thoughts of wisdom into a few chosen words charged with meaning. A creator of momentous celebrations and fun gatherings. She was my aunt. When she looked at me, I felt past generations watching me silently yet attentively through her kind eyes. I felt accepted, loved and cared for. I knew I belonged and mattered.

The writer of this epistle assures the readers that we, too, belong and matter. After all, we are called beloved – children of God. We, the whole family of God, are called into a holy unity and mutual ministry with each other. Yes, there is that gift of belonging and being valued. That is the springboard. For there is also an expectation to work together as members of God’s family, creating harmony, joy and peace as we follow in the footsteps of our brother Jesus.

Dearest Brother, create joy in our hearts that we will take every opportunity to grow in faith, love, compassion and unity. Amen. — ES
