Lili Sang

On Sunday mornings after announcements about our congregational life toether, I usually invite worshippers to share their good news with us, their church family. And so we get opportunities to join in celebrations of life-events, milestones and thankgivings. Sometimes we even rejoice about the weather.

One Sunday, as I asked for good news, Lili lifted her hand up. I did not even notice her, but other worshippers directed my attention to this 5-year-old sitting beside her mother and father. She had something to share she said. She wanted to sing for us. Wonderful! Lili walked to front, faced the congregation, and sang, “Shalom my friends, shalom my friends…” She was comfortable amongst her church family, yet understood the significance of the moment and sang with gentle confidence and total solemnity.

And suddenly, we were all drawn to worship God led by the voice of this child. In her voice, we heard the waters of life gushing forth. Our faith was refreshed, our hope renewed and we praised the Lord.

Thank you for all who bring us your good news! Amen. — ES
