Friday September 19th, 2014 Psalm 145: 1-8
The might of your awesome deeds shall be proclaimed? (verse 6a)
A couple of years ago I stopped watching the news daily. I found that the more I watched the news the more negative my perception was towards life. Now don’t get me wrong, I think it is important to know what is going on in the world, but the news only tells us half the story. The news reflects the painful events that happen in our world. It rarely shows the awesome deeds of God.
How often do the painful events that happen in our lives overshadow the joyous events that we experience?
Now photo albums are where it’s at. Photo albums give us pictures of the awesome deeds of God touching our lives. We don’t take pictures of the last fight we had with our spouse, or our children yelling, “I hate you,” or even a funeral service. We take pictures of the good times. We take pictures of baptisms, weddings, Christmas, birthdays, vacations, road trips with friends, church picnics and youth conferences.
Our psalmist is sharing with us his photo album experience. The psalmist is proclaiming all the good things God is doing in his life. What do you prefer: photo albums or the news?
Awesome God, thank you for doing miraculous works in our lives. Amen. — WHB
