Saturday July 19th, 2014 Romans 8:12-25
...it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God... (verse 16)
In the summertime we enjoy a family cottage on the shore that does not have a road leading to it. When it comes to lugging big jugs of water we wait for high tide. Floating these goods instead of lugging them makes incredible sense.
The Spirit called our family to a new mission, a pure, for God’s sake, totally other, totally new opportunity. Our spirit, as we rose to that call, was employed with new tasks, edgy activities, great new learning.
As the Spirit witnessed with our spirits, were we always in sync? No. However, when my family’s spirit connected with the members’ spirits and together we connected with the Holy Spirit, a new child was born: a new mission, debt-free in Brockville.
Not much comes from our insight, no matter how brilliant, if it is only our idea. But whenever our spirits bear witness to other spirits that they are of God and these other spirits say, you, too, are of God, then what follows makes incredible sense.
Dear God, may what we witness to others and what they witness to us be of such accord that we see eye-to-eye, and so make incredible sense in this troubled world. Amen. — KC
