Shepherds

Many of us have been caregivers to children, and we know that when we have more than one child under our care we need to be on our toes so as not to lose sight of any one of them. Children are special in their own way. As caregivers we love each one and would not want to lose one of them.

Shepherds are caregivers-pastors, those in leadership roles in our churches, municipalities, government, organizations and those in authority to name a few. We can all think of times when those in leadership have scattered their flock. Thankfully, some shepherds have skills to bring their flocks back to the fold. Good shepherds always bring their sheep back to the fold for protection.

Jeremiah has promised the people that God would raise up good shepherds who would bring them back together; then they will be fruitful and multiply.

Jeremiah’s are words of comfort, for he shares with us the prophecy of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are the sheep of God’s pasture. We, the flock, belong to God, who is the only true shepherd.
