At 95 years of age, I know my days are numbered. Well, so are yours, though my numbers are likely somewhat smaller than yours. There was a time when I thought it would be great to live to a hundred, but with increasing health problems (hands that don’t work decently, a miserable sense of balance), I no longer yearn for that goal. My prayer has long been that at the end I will be mentally capable of sharing with those around me the conviction that God has been astonishingly gracious to me, and that I now look forward to meeting Christ Jesus face to face.
The resurrection of Jesus is one of the most crucial truths of our faith. Each Sunday, we proclaim our faith in Jesus rising from the grave. Paul admonishes us to hold fast to this truth, for if we have abandoned our belief in the resurrection, we have no hope of eternal life. Let us praise God daily for Jesus’ resurrection.
Lord, in your grace grant me the gift of resurrection life. Amen. —
