I remember when we as a family went to visit my wife’s friends in Canmore, Alberta. Marina was age 4 and Jordan was age 3. We travelled from Regina all day and arrived at our friends’ home in the evening.
We were awakened in the morning by the loud voice of our son yelling, “Wow!” When we checked what the problem was, Jordan had looked out the front window and was amazed to see those tall, gorgeous mountains. We were surrounded by them, just like being in a big, beautiful snow globe.
King David reminds us today that our God is and was all around or near people, just like the mountains were all around Jerusalem, or in our case, Canmore. What a comforting thought to know our God is always near, no matter our circumstances. In God, we have a secure inheritance and future, knowing that nothing will ever separate us from God’s amazing love and forgiveness.
My prayer for us today and every day is that we know our God is only a whisper away, and together we can find comfort and grace by singing the children’s song, “Jesus Loves Me.”
Yes, Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Amen. —
