I marvel at our grandchildren. Every new skill they master is a sign that our Creator Spirit is still at work.
So when I read Psalm 85:10, where God’s righteousness and peace kiss each other, I think of how my two-year-old granddaughter likes to kiss her infant sister, and her Nana, and her parents, and me, and practically everyone else! This little one surely has the magic down pat when it comes to kissing.
But how about God’s kiss on the lives of our people? According to Psalm 85, when God “kisses” the faithful, we encounter love we can count on to always be there for us and our lives are at peace. God puts things right. We stand on solid ground and above us stretch the promises of heaven. Our lives produce wonderful spiritual fruits as we journey together with our Saviour.
If this is what “revival” means, then I am all for it. And now that I think of it, maybe it’s really God who kisses me through my little grandchild. And that’s great, too.
As you know, loving God, life has a way of wearing us all down and making everything much harder than it should be. It's at such times that our spirits really appreciate your reviving kiss. Amen. — BB
