?your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? (verse 19)
Our exercise coaches tell us to stay active. Nutritionists share information on eating well, and doctors give us medicine to make us better. Alternative health care practitioners-chiropractors, naturopaths and all the rest-help keep us healthy so we have less need for medicine.
There are about as many ways to treat our bodies well as to mistreat them, and sometimes too much information dazzles those little gray cells, but one thing is certain-exercise is a good thing.
A friend and I walk our local track when we can coordinate our schedules. Last time we kept count and by the end, we’d done 32 laps, which meant we’d walked over two miles. Not bad for going round and round in a cool arena and catching up on each other’s life, as we kept a steady pace. The track offers a consistent environment-cool, not slippery or too hot-the extremes that outdoor walking can present. While the track is a good place, I walk outdoors with another friend whenever possible.
We are created in God’s image, and it’s our job to take care of that vessel that only we inhabit. It’s true, you lose what you don’t use.
Loving God, thank you for the gift of life. Give us wisdom for using it well. Amen. — CRW
